“On Gazing into a Mirror”
by Li Po
Follow Tao, and nothing is old or new.
Lose it, and the ruins of age return.
Someone smiling back in the mirror,
hair white as the frost-stained glass,
you admit lament is empty, ask how
reflections get so worn and withered.
How speak of peach and plum: timeless
South Mountain blazes in the end?
“The World Is Too Much With Us”
The World is too much with us us; late and soon,
Getting and spending, we lay waste our powers;
Little we see in Nature that is ours;
We have given our hearts away, a sordid boon!
This sea that bares her bosom to the moon;
The winds that will be howling at all hours,
And are up-gathered now like sleeping flowers;
For this, for everything, we are out of tune;
It moves us not. — Great God! I’d rather be
A Pagan suckled in a creed outworn,
So might I, standing on this pleasant lea,
Have glimpses that would make me less forlorn;
Have sight of Proteus rising from the sea,
Or hear old Triton blow his wreathed horn.
A man is supple and weak when living, but hard
and stiff when dead. Grass and trees are pliant and fragile
when living, but dried and shrivelled when dead.
Thus the hard and the strong are the comrades of
death; the supple and the weak are the comrades of life.
Therefore a weapon that is strong will not vanquish;
A tree that is strong will suffer the axe.
The strong and big takes the lower position,
The supple and weak takes the higher position.
It is difficult to decipher Hegel when he expresses himself in that way, and the turgidity cannot be blamed on the translator; if anything, the German is harder on the eye and ear. Lao-Tzu is suppler and more limpid by contrast, and in a mere nine lines is able to illustrate the meaning of paradox quite well. The Hegel passage leaves the reader agitated in the attempt to figure it out; the poetic passage plays on the imagination and encourages a second and third thought.
I am hoping for a better and a bright future someday because through this I can achieve my goals in life and fulfill my destiny. Though it is not that easy because you can encounter a lot of obstacles but remember you always need to get up whenever you fall and continue in what you are doing
Be true to yourself at anytime because you can fool other people but not you.And always keep in mind that staying true to yourself marks the true you so don’t be afraid of showing your true color just because of what other people will say just remember that it takes a lot of maturity in undergoing this process but don’t worry.
Life is hard to live as all they say. Our journey here in on earth is not a bed of roses and whether we like it or not problems will always come into our way and somehow it can makes us stumble unto our feet. But always remember problems has every purpose in our life you just need to be optimistic about it and stop complaining and most of all you enjoy life and thank god for it.
Divergent is really an awesome book.!
